A volunteer from Orofino received recognition for her service at the Idaho Capital for a Day event hosted by Gov. Brad Little, Thursday July 24.
Serve Idaho, the Governor’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism, recognized Jo Moore with the Idaho’s Brightest Star Award for her exceptional volunteer service.
Moore was nominated by Susan Jacobson, president of the Clearwater Community Complex, for her dedication and commitment to ensuring a public aquatic facility is built. She has raised funds, gathered community input and support and provided weekly updates to the local paper on the progress of the project.
“Jo is a humble, quiet ‘doer’ who charges in when a need is presented. She is tireless and kind and does it all with a smile on her face,” said Jacobson. “It doesn’t matter how big or overwhelming the job is, she will find a way to make it happen.”
In addition to her current work on the Clearwater Community Complex, Moore founded and helped raise over one million dollars for the Clearwater Memorial Public Library, ensuring the community had access to telehealth, free Wi-Fi, children’s story time and meeting rooms. She currently serves on the library’s board and the Clearwater Valley Hospital Foundation Board where she is a founding member. Moore also volunteers at her church and is an active Rotarian.
Idaho’s Brightest Star Award recognizes outstanding volunteers from across the state. It is a partnership between Gov. Little’s office, Serve Idaho and the Idaho Community Foundation + Idaho Nonprofit Center.
