New business startups (private establishments that have been open less than a year) have grown at a rapid rate during 2024, creating over 27,000 jobs in Idaho. The state’s employment rate from business startups is currently greater in Idaho than nationally.

Idaho Department of Labor Economist Ryan Whitesides will analyze this data at a webinar, Wednesday, May 28, from 11 a.m. to noon.

“Idaho finds itself in a healthy state of job growth from startups, especially over the past 14 years when the greatest growth occurred,” Whitesides said.

Director Kyle Guelcher with the Small Business Development Council (SBDC) will also be a panelist on the webinar.

The SBDC provides training, consulting and resources to help entrepreneurs as well as business startups — grow.
