- Tamarack Aerospace, a Sandpoint-based manufacturer of airplane winglets, has filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy. The company has reduced its staff from 25 at the beginning of the year to 16. It will continue to operate after entering the reorganization bankruptcy. Source: Journal of Business
- Hayden-based manufacturer StanCraft Boat Co. is moving forward with construction of its new Jet Center at the Coeur d’Alene Airport. Representatives for StanCraft, which manufactures luxury watercraft, characterized the move to redo jet interiors as a natural dovetail from their current business. - Northwest Specialty Hospital in Post Falls has opened a new Endoscopy Center. The new wing adds nearly 9,000 square feet to the facility, adding procedure rooms and post-operative care space. Source: Journal of Business
- The city of Post Falls has agreed to purchase 10 acres of right-of-way from Union Pacific Railroad as part of an ongoing effort to eliminate the rail spur line so that the Prairie Trail can be extended northward. Over-The-Year Nonfarm Job Growth Remains Stable
Idaho’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate edged up from 2.8 in June to 2.9 percent in July, the 20th consecutive month at or below 3 percent.
An additional 2,834 people made themselves available for work in July, pushing Idaho’s seasonally adjusted labor force up to 876,539. The number of unemployed increased by 400 to 25,061. Total employment grew by 2,434 to 851,478.
Idaho’s labor force participation rate – the percentage of people age 16 years or older working or looking for work – remained at 64 percent.

Veterans who have been incarcerated – whether city, county, state or federal facility – and have been released within the last 12 months, may be eligible for services under the Incarcerated Veterans Transition Program (IVTP).
The program, managed by the Idaho Department of Labor, can provide services such as classroom training, on-the-job-training, occupational skills training, apprenticeship training and retraining. Additional support may include funding for work clothing and boots, transportation, childcare, vehicle repairs and rent.
What is the purpose of the RESEA interview?
The purpose of the interview is to provide you with tools to help you return to work as quickly as possible. Your Labor workforce consultants are employment experts dedicated to helping you find work. They will provide individualized job search feedback and create a plan to help ensure a successful work search. The consultant also may assist you with labor market information, resumes and innovative ideas for seeking work.
Why is the interview required?
In order to receive unemployment insurance benefits, you are required to seek work and may be required to perform certain work search activities. Required work search activities include participating in an in-person interview if you are selected.

Serve Idaho, the Governor’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism has received a $1,227,364 grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service to fund AmeriCorps programs in 2019-2020. The grants will support the service of 177 AmeriCorps members statewide.
