Employers Have 20 Days to Report New Hires

Spring signals the start of a busy hiring season for landscaping, restaurant and other businesses. New employees, even seasonal and temporary workers, count as new hires and need to be reported.

Idaho’s reporting law requires all Idaho employers to report new employees to the Idaho Department of Labor within 20 days of the date of hire. The date of hire is the first day the employee begins working for wages, not before.

Social Media Law – Educate Yourself. The National Labor Relations Act (NLRB) governs employee social media use in the workplace and applies to private companies and nonprofits. The act protects “concerted activity,” or the right of employees to discuss wages, terms of employment and working conditions.

  • Construction work is proceeding to add two restaurants to Coeur d’Alene’s Riverstone complex. Anthony’s, an upscale fresh seafood restaurant based in Seattle, is adding a stand-alone location in the Riverstone shopping complex, and Ipanema, a popular Brazilian steakhouse, is relocating to Riverstone from its current Coeur d’Alene location.   • The city of Rathdrum purchased 30 acres of land to relocate city facilities. Rathdrum’s city hall, police station, parks and recreation department and public works department are all at or near the capacity of their current buildings.
