Public Invited to Meetings on Unemployment Insurance Benefits Rule Changes

The Idaho Department of Labor is holding public meetings about rule changes to Idaho Administrative Rules regarding unemployment insurance benefits.

The first meeting on July 10 addresses changes to Administrative Rule 09.01.30, sections 100.02; 150.01-03 and 175.12. The proposed changes are to:

  • Clarify unemployment insurance benefit eligibility for individuals with disabilities is determined by Idaho law;
  • Identify unemployment insurance claimants as responsible for providing competent evidence they are qualified individuals with disabilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act; and
  • Remove language concerning long-term disability inconsistent with the definition of disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The second meeting on July 25 addresses Administrative Rule 09.01.03.175.23. The intended changes will:

  • Allow unemployment insurance claimants enrolled in approved training programs or courses outside their local labor market to remain eligible for unemployment benefits when it’s necessary to leave their local labor market for training programs or courses unavailable within the local labor market; and
  • Specify unemployment insurance claimants cannot leave their local labor market to go out of the country.

The public may attend both meetings and will have a chance to provide comments. Individuals may also submit written comments for the record, questions, recommendations or ideas to the Idaho Department of Labor, addressed to Joshua.McKenna@labor.idaho.gov, by the specified date.
