Construction contractors are invited to meet prospective heavy equipment operators this spring in three Idaho communities as part of the ICONIC program.
When participants are close to obtaining their certification in heavy equipment operation from the Idaho Career Opportunities – Next in Construction (ICONIC) program, local businesses are invited to meet participants and see their ability to use heavy machinery.
Contractor Day takes place at these dates, times and locations:
March 12: 57 Bob Barton Road, Jerome (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
March 26: 4055 Professional Way, Idaho Falls (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
May 7: Site TBA, Boise (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
Interested contractors are encouraged to contact Sandy Mitchell at sandy.mitchell@bakersd.org to learn more.
Previous Contractor Day events have led to on-location interviews and job hires for participants.
The intensive ICONIC course involves a mix of classroom and hands-on learning at no cost to the participants. Students receive certifications in heavy equipment operation, flagging, forklift, first aid, CPR, AED and OSHA-10.
