Free training is currently available for Idahoans wanting to pursue a career in heavy equipment operation, cement masonry and concrete finishing.
Depending on the occupation, annual wages in this industry can range from $43,000 to $52,000 statewide, according to the 2023 Occupational Employment and Wage Survey (OEWS) from the Idaho Department of Labor.
The Idaho Career Opportunities – Next in Construction (ICONIC) program is a path to a rewarding career in highway construction. Most graduates who participate in the program may go on to obtain their commercial driver’s license to operate heavy vehicles. Funds may be available as a resource to obtain the license.
The free training is a five-week intensive course involving a mix of classroom and hands-on learning. The next training session takes place in Boise from April 17 to May 25.
Idahoans interested in pursuing this opportunity can sign up at iconic.idaho.gov.
Applicants must hold a valid driver’s license, be at least 18 years old and pass a workplace drug screen.
