Idaho’s December unemployment rate increases to 3.8%

– Idaho’s seasonally adjusted labor force over one million for first time –

Idaho’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.8% in December, up from 3.7% in November.

The state’s labor force increased by 4,108 people (0.4%) to 1,000,658 while the labor force participation rate — the percentage of people 16 years of age or older who are either employed or looking for work — increased from 63.4% to 63.6% between November and December.

This is the first time Idaho’s seasonally adjusted labor force has had over one million participants in the state’s history. Continue reading

Idaho’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.7% in November, unchanged from October.

The state’s labor force increased by 3,188 people (0.3%) to 996,574 while the labor force participation rate — the percentage of people 16 years of age or older who are either employed or looking for work — increased from 63.3% to 63.4% between October and November.

Total employment increased by 2,537 (0.3%) to 959,460 as unemployment increased by 651 (1.8%) to 37,114. Continue reading

Idaho’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.7% in October, up from 3.6% in September.

The state’s labor force increased by 3,738 people (0.4%) to 993,428 while the labor force participation rate — the percentage of people 16 years of age or older who are either employed or looking for work — increased from 63.2% to 63.3% between September and October.

Total employment increased by 3,037 (0.3%) to 956,960 as unemployment increased by 701 (2%) to 36,468.

Idaho’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.6% in September, up from 3.5% in August.

The state’s labor force increased by 4,019 people (0.4%) to 989,744 while the labor force participation rate — the percentage of people 16 years of age or older who are either employed or looking for work — increased from 63.1% to 63.2% between August and September.

The state’s labor force increased by 3,851 people (0.4%) to 985,722 while the labor force participation rate — the percentage of people 16 years of age or older who are either employed or looking for work — increased from 62.9% to 63.1% between July and August.

Total employment increased by 2,983 (0.3%) to 950,781 as unemployment increased by 868 (2.5%) to 34,941.

Idaho’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.5% in July, an increase from June’s rate of 3.4%.

The state’s labor force increased by 3,922 people (0.4%) to 981,851 while the labor force participation rate — the percentage of people 16 years of age or older who are either employed or looking for work — increased from 62.8% to 62.9% between June and July.

Idaho’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.4% in June, an increase from May’s rate of 3.3%.

The state’s labor force increased by 2,227 people (0.2%) to 977,902 while the labor force participation rate — the percentage of people 16 years of age or older who are either employed or looking for work — increased from 62.7% to 62.8% between May and June.

Total employment increased by 1,649 (0.2%) to 944,740 as unemployment increased by 578 (1.8%) to 33,162.

– State first in nation for over-the-month nonfarm job growth at 0.9% –

Idaho’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.3% in May, unchanged since September 2023.

The state’s labor force increased by 1,679 people (0.2%) to 975,713 while the labor force participation rate — the percentage of people 16 years of age or older who are either employed or looking for work — remained at 62.7% between April and May.

Total employment increased by 1,363 (0.1%) to 943,123 as unemployment increased by 316 (1%) to 32,590.

Idaho’s nonfarm jobs increased by 7,600 (0.9%) to 871,000 in May — the largest percentage change among all states. Industry sectors with the greatest over-the-month increases included arts, entertainment, and recreation (10.4%); transportation, warehousing, and utilities (3%); private educational services (2.9%); state government (1.5%); wholesale trade (1.4%); professional and business services (1.2%); durable goods manufacturing (0.9%); health care and social services (0.9%); real estate rental and leasing (0.9%); and construction (0.7%). The state’s labor force increased by 2,595 people (0.3%) to 974,053 while the labor force participation rate — the percentage of people 16 years of age or older who are either employed or looking for work — increased to 62.7% from March’s 62.6%.

– State first in nation for over-the-year nonfarm job growth at 3.7% –

Idaho’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.3% in March, unchanged since September 2023.

The state’s labor force increased by 2,029 people (0.2%) to 971,488 while the labor force participation rate — the percentage of people 16 years of age or older who are either employed or looking for work — held steady at 62.6% between February and March.

Total employment increased by 2,092 (0.2%) to 939,175 as unemployment decreased by 63 (-0.2%) to 32,313.

Idaho’s nonfarm jobs increased by 3,100 to 866,300 in March. Industry sectors with the greatest over-the-month gains included nondurable goods manufacturing (2.1%); arts, entertainment, and recreation (1.2%); other services (1.1%); finance and insurance (1.0%); state government (0.9%); construction (0.8%); wholesale trade (0.8%); federal government (0.7%); retail trade (0.6%); and durable goods manufacturing (0.5%).

Industries that experienced job declines in March included private educational services
(-1.8%) as well professional and business services (-0.8%).
