Veterans can connect to employers who are looking, specifically, for veterans to fill job positions at a job fair Friday, Oct. 27.
The job fair will be from 1 to 4 p.m. at Boise State University’s Student Union building in the Jordan Ballroom. The address is 1700 University Drive.
It’s beneficial for veterans to attend this event, Veterans Representative Matt Bennett said. “It is one of few in the Boise area.”
In a recent labor market webinar hosted by the department, economist Matt Paskash said, “Veterans have soft skills like leadership, teamwork time management skills and a strong work ethic which is appealing to employers.”
Employers planning to attend the job fair, include Plexus, Albertsons, Gogo Squeeze, Pacific Source, City of Boise, T-Mobile, H&R Block, National Interagency Fire Center, Bogus Basin, Western Aircraft and more.
A full list of participating employers is on Labor’s calendar of events.
The event is hosted in partnership by the Idaho Department of Labor, Boise State University and the Idaho Veteran’s Chamber of Commerce.
While preparing for the job fair, attendees are encouraged to utilize Labor’s Maximize Your Job Search Workbook to learn interview skills and job tips.
For more information or to request reasonable accommodation contact Matt.Bennett@labor.idaho.gov or call 208-364-7781 ext. 4327. Dial 711 for the Idaho Relay Service for the deaf and hard of hearing.
Attending a job fair counts as one weekly valid work-search activity for unemployment insurance purposes.
