Idaho Department of Labor survey seeks responses from businesses

The department is seeking responses for its second annual Idaho Business Climate Survey. The survey launches the week of Aug. 28. Businesses selected to participate will have two weeks to respond.

“The survey allows the department to provide real-time data on the current state of businesses in Idaho,” Labor Economist Seth Harrington said. “Businesses also share their voice on the benefits and challenges of doing business in the state.”

Employers in Canyon County continue to search for job seekers

There were 1,743 unique online job postings during July, with 648 employers looking for Canyon County job seekers, according to Lightcast.

“Caldwell is a well-diversified job market. Places with higher job openings include schools, hospitals, clinics, retail stores and manufacturing facilities,” Labor Economist Jan Roeser said.

Job seekers are invited to connect with employers at a hiring event, Tuesday, Aug. 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Idaho Department of Labor Caldwell office. The office is located at 4514 Thomas Jefferson St.

Despite Rexburg’s low unemployment rate, employers continue to fill job openings

Since June, Rexburg’s labor market area has had the lowest unemployment rate in the state at 2.8%, according to Labor Economist Ryan Whitesides with the Idaho Department of Labor.

“This unemployment rate bodes well with a reduced competition for jobs, especially this time of year,” Whitesides said. “It’s more of a job seekers’ market in the Rexburg area.”

To help connect job seekers to opportunities, the department is hosting a hiring event, Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars building in Rexburg. The address is 480 W. 2nd N.

The top three occupations in Boise with the most job postings in June were registered nurses, retail salespersons and software developers, according to Labor Economist Jan Roeser.

Wages increase in Ada County, Labor puts on hiring event

The average covered wage for all industries in Ada County has grown by 25% since 2019, according to Labor Economist Jan Roeser.

And from a recent news release from the Idaho Department of Labor, the Boise Metropolitan Statistical Area had the largest average hourly wage increase of $2.62 over the year.

Job seekers in Boise who are looking to change careers, are invited to a hiring event Wednesday, May 15, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Boise Public Library. The library is located at 715 S. Capitol Blvd.
