Meet 35+ employers at Labor’s Post Falls hiring event March 15

Over 100 jobs will be available for job seekers at the Idaho Department of Labor’s Post Falls hiring event Wednesday, March 15. The event is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Post Falls labor office located at 600 N. Thornton St.

Positions vary from carpenters, welders, warehouse workers, HVAC installers, truck drivers, heavy equipment operators, caregivers, customer service supervisors to commercial photographers, graphic designers, landscape maintenance workers and more.

A few employers who will be attending include Aerotek, All Ways Caring Homecare, Darnall Sprinklers, Fred Meyer, the Idaho Division of Veterans Services, North Idaho Dental Personnel, NPL Construction, Serengeti Care and Shabby Fabrics.

Caldwell hiring event Feb. 23 features multiple job and training opportunities

Several Caldwell area employers are seeking multiple workers at an early spring hiring event Feb. 23, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Idaho Department of Labor Caldwell office, located at 4514 Thomas Jefferson St.

Employers looking to fill positions include the City of Caldwell, St. Luke’s, D&B Supply, Idaho Youth Ranch, University of Idaho Extension – Eat Smart Idaho program, Trinity Home Care & Resource, WICAP, Witco and Gem State Staffing.

Types of jobs to be filled are varied, including a nutrition instructor, front end loaders, IT technicians, a web administrator, a staff accountant, early childhood and preschool teachers, clerks, program managers, caregivers and more. Continue reading

The Idaho Department of Labor in northern Idaho is hosting a hiring event Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Post Falls Labor office, 600 N. Thornton St.

Employers are looking to fill over 100 jobs in a variety of professions. Positions include mechanics, accountants, truck drivers, construction laborers, caregivers, dental hygienists, substitute teachers, journeymen and more.

Some employers attending include Care Fiber Reclaim, Spokane County Jail, Heritage Health, Post Falls School District, Sunshine Minting, Country Girl Gardens, Walmart and Sherwin Williams.

Pocatello hiring event Feb. 15 offers various jobs

The Idaho Department of Labor is hosting a hiring event Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Pocatello Labor office, 430 N. 5th Ave.

Up to 30 businesses plan to attend, including A New Hope, Amy’s Kitchen, the Idaho Grocery Outlet in Pocatello, Haskell Construction, Lamb Weston, Premier Technology, Sage Trucking, Idaho State Hospital South and more.

Positions to be filled include caretakers, warehouse workers, managers, construction laborers, technicians, welders, registered nurses and transit drivers. More positions will be available at the hiring event.

Jan Roeser, the Idaho Department of Labor economist for southwestern Idaho, will explain commuting patterns, characteristics defining consumers and housing trends, population migration patterns and how communities are changing over time.

Online employer seminar series kicks off Jan. 25 with focus on labor market information

Employers across the state are invited to attend a free Zoom seminar Jan. 25, 9 to 10:30 a.m. MT, to learn more about labor market information in Idaho.

Participants will hear about the underlying causes of why help wanted signs are so prevalent in Idaho and the U.S. The seminar will also address why demographics lie at the heart of so many economic concerns.

Sam Wolkenhauer, Idaho Department of Labor economist for northern Idaho, will lead the presentation. A Q&A will follow.

Multi-employer career fair scheduled for Meridian Library on Feb. 9

The Idaho Department of Labor is hosting a hiring event Thursday, Feb. 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Meridian Library Cherry Lane Branch, 1326 W Cherry Lane.

Over 20 employers will be in attendance including ABM Industries, Boise Cold Storage, Bogus Basin, T-Mobile, Silicon Mountain, Home Instead, St. Luke’s RMC, the Treasure Valley YMCA, Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, West Ada School District and more.

Positions available include office clerical, bus drivers, equipment technicians, administrative specialists, janitorial, school custodians, caregivers, ski instructors, merchandisers, patient services and warehouse/forklift operators – just to name a few.

Homedale Labor mobile location open to support Idaho job seekers

The Idaho Department of Labor has a new mobile location to further support residents in Owyhee County. The Homedale mobile location is open every Wednesday from noon to 4 p.m. at the Gypsy Jackson Memorial Library. A workforce consultant will be on site.

Services from a workforce consultant include support in looking for a new job, such as writing resumes, filling out job applications and preparing for a job interview. All mobile locations help job seekers access training resources.

Idaho’s December unemployment rate down slightly to 2.9%

Idaho’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 2.9% in December, edging down from 3% in November.

December’s labor force – workers who are employed or unemployed but looking for work – increased by 587 people (0.1%) to 963,957, the smallest increase since the previous December’s decline of 100 (-0.01%).

With the labor force growing at a slower pace than the civilian population, Idaho’s labor force participation decreased by 0.1 percentage points to 62.4%.
